DISEASES OF THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
Disease of the lymphatic system
The lymphatic system is made up of tiny vessels along which lymph nodes are located at intervals like stations (lymph glands). These nodes contain a clear liquid called lymph, which is rich in protein. The most common pathology in this system is a swelling known as lymph oedema. The swelling can attain considerable proportions, as in elephantiasis. It may be congenital or acquired (radiation therapy etc.).
