VENOUS DISEASES
REFLUX PATHOLOGIES
The veins carry back to the heart the blood carried by the arteries from the heart to the various organs or parts of the body. Veins are like canals which have
valves we could describe as lock-gates, and these prevent the blood from flowing backwards against the natural current.
When the valves don't work, the blood can flow back against the current, falling downwards: this is what is meant by
reflux.
Reflux causes damage to various structures in the leg.
